When you get a stairlift installed it is more than likely going to be used frequently, even multiple times a day! It is because of this that we want our customers to understand that they are in safe hands with Trent Stairlifts and our team of qualified engineers will be on hand to help out with any servicing, maintenance or repairs you may need.
How Often Does a Stairlift Need Servicing?
If you have a brand new stairlift then it is recommended that you have your stairlift serviced every twelve months, and if your stairlift is reconditioned or an older model then it is recommended that you have your stairlift serviced every six months. Even if you aren’t experiencing any issues with your stairlift it is always best to get it serviced as this will highlight any small problems before they turn in to more serious problems.
A stairlift service from Trent Stairlifts is always carried out by a trained professional, offering a comprehensive check of all electrical parts and mechanical components.
Do I Have to Pay for Stairlift Servicing?
A common question that you may have when deciding to invest in a stairlift is ‘will I need to pay for stairlift servicing?’ and ‘does a new stairlift need a service?’ You do not need to service a brand new stairlift so, there is no need to worry about repair costs in the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your stairlift within the first year as it will be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
At Trent Stairlifts we offer extended warranty packages for two and three years, these packages include annual servicing and full breakdown cover.
Servicing fee’s are charged for stairlifts that aren’t covered by an extended warranty.
Stairlift Maintenance
If properly maintained, a new stairlift can last for many years and is likely to never experience any problems or issues with functionality. Below are a few helpful maintenance tips that will help keep your stairlift running smoothly:
• Ensure nothing obstructs the rails on your stairlift.
• Keep the rails as dust-free as possible by cleaning with a dry cloth once a week (a hose attachment for a vacuum cleaner can also help with hard to reach areas).
• If you own a pet, ensure their hair does not clog in the rails.
• Do not allow children to play on the stairlift or with the controls.
• Do not exceed the maximum weight limit of your stairlift.
• Ensure your stairlift is serviced regularly.
